From scented wax melts to candles, I pour my heart and soul into every item to ensure the best quality and scent experience.
Starting this business has been an incredible journey, and I am truly grateful for the support I’ve received from all of you. Business Partner, Director of BSL Communication Service Ltd
I’m Josh, and I’m proud to be the Director of BSL Communication Service Ltd, where we offer specialised translation and interpreting services for Deaf British Sign Language (BSL) users. My work focuses on breaking down communication barriers and promoting accessibility for all, whether it’s in medical, legal, educational, or corporate settings. Our certified BSL interpreters provide expert, confidential, and accurate services to help facilitate clear communication.
In addition to my role at BSL Communication Service, I work as the Pathways & Careers Manager at Abbey Hill Academy & College, where I lead the development and delivery of careers education for students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). I’m passionate about ensuring students receive tailored guidance and meaningful work experiences, empowering them to achieve successful transitions into their future careers.
I also learned British Sign Language after meeting Tom, and I’m committed to promoting accessibility, inclusion, and equal opportunities for the Deaf community.

Chief Sniffing Officer (CSO)
Ted is the older and larger of the brothers, with a calm and loving nature. While he’s more laid-back, he’s always ready to keep up with Archie’s playful antics. Ted is a true gentle giant and an important part of the family, offering a peaceful presence amidst the chaos.

Head of Naps and Wellness
Archie is the younger and smaller of the pair, full of energy and curiosity. Always getting into mischief, Archie loves to explore and play. His playful personality brings a lot of fun to the family, and he keeps everyone on their toes with his boundless enthusiasm.
Meet Elaine
Elaine is Tom’s mum and a fantastic all-rounder on our team. She helps with social media sales, supports us at deaf markets and events in the South of the UK, and plays a key role in choosing new scents for our VIP customers. With a great eye for what people love and a real passion for what we do, Elaine brings creativity, care, and connection to everything she’s involved in. We’re so grateful to have her as part of the family business.
Meet Claire
Claire is Josh’s mum and the backbone of our admin support. As an Administration Officer for BSL Communication Service Ltd, she also manages the day-to-day administration for T & J Scents, keeping everything organised and running smoothly behind the scenes. From processing stock orders to keeping on top of paperwork, Claire’s attention to detail and calm, can-do attitude make her an essential part of the team. We’d be lost without her!
Meet Paul
Paul is Tom’s dad and a real helping hand for our team. As a deaf person, he also plays an important role in representing us at deaf events and helping us stay connected with the community. He supports us with repairs and practical jobs, making sure everything is in top shape, and regularly covers markets in the South of the UK. Paul's skills, experience, and commitment—both behind the scenes and out in the community—make him an invaluable part of the team.
Meet Ella
Ella is Josh’s sister and a valued member of our team. She helps manage our social media, keeping everyone up to date with what we’re working on, and also lends a hand in the workshop with Tom, getting involved in the making process. Alongside all this, Ella is studying full time and will be heading to university in September to study English Literature. Her creativity, work ethic, and eye for detail shine through in everything she does, and we’re so proud to have her as part of the journey.
Meet Julie
Julie is a good friend of ours and a familiar face at many of our markets and events. Always full of energy and happy to lend a hand, she plays a big part in helping things run smoothly behind the scenes. Whether she’s chatting with customers, setting up stalls, or keeping everything in order, Julie brings a positive vibe and a real community spirit to everything she does. We’re lucky to have her as part of our team!
